Land and Freedom (1995)

Land and Freedom, directed by Ken Loach and written by Jim Allen, narrates the story of David Carr, an unemployed worker and member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, who decides to fight for the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War. Ken Loach, probably best known for his portrayals of the British working class, is a very underrated director. His films are always honest, political and realistic; his actors are usually unknown talents who have had some of the actual life experience of the characters they portray. Brilliant director! This movie is one of his masterpieces!

Those of you who speak Spanish and English you can watch the movie here (otherwise downloading subtitles would be a good idea)
