Beneva vs. Clark Nova consists of the Oslo-based duo Frank Benjamin Finger and Rudi Simmons. Their soundscapes are detailed and full of contradictions as they are concerned about melodies, but at the same time are fond of abstract sounds. The sound of the duo is richly detailed and filled with constrasts, tripping with ease from childish play to beat-intensive melodies, from ambient to industrial noise. This is their much celebrated debut album, released on Fenêtre Records in 2008, following the ambient gem Flotsam/Jetsam on 3” CD in 2007. Their latest album "Dramadadatic" was released in 2009 on How Is Annie Records/Fenetre Records. Awesome album! Highly recommended!

DJ Krush is known as the father of japanese trip and hip-hop. His sounds create a unique dark downtempo atmosphere. Toshinori Kondo is one of the top trumpeters from Japan. The combination of a turntablist such as Krush and the trumpeting of Kondo seems like it wouldn’t be a match. Yet, the mixture once again proves that Krush’s ability to produce with live musicians creates very impressive and moving results. Amazing album! A must!
Lights Out Asia is a downtempo and post-rock musical project that was formed in early 2003 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Their music combines elements from electro, shoegaze and post-rock. Garmonia is their debut album released on Sun Sea Productions in 2003. Really good!
Boozoo Bajou is a musical duo from Nuremberg, Germany. They are noted for their distinct blend of Cajun sounds with island rhythms; a blend of electronica, jazz, lounge. This is their debut album, released in 2001. Excellent!
Escape The Day was a post-rock band from Berlin, Germany, formed in 2003, who took influence from acoustic and ambient music. Their unreleased album “Ghostless” (2005) was put on hold due to the suicide of band member Christoph Florian Rehse (1979-2005). After 2005 Escape The Day has stopped, and is forever dedicated to the love and memory of Florian. Their work was described as “Great music for lonely walks, hangovers or just falling asleep.”. Their music can sweep you into its arms of melancholy. Pure brilliance!
Perry Blake is an Irish singer and songwriter, known for the delicate, downtempo, melancholic style of his songs and his soft singing voice. His 1998 self-titled debut album was very successful in the UK and won critical praise. Perry Blake has gained a lot of popularity in France, where his music was used for the soundtracks of the films Presque rien (2000) and 3 petites filles (2004). His musical influences are Leonard Cohen, David Sylvian, Scott Walker, and Nick Drake. This is his second album released in 1999. Highly recommended!
Early Day Miners is an American group from Bloomington, Indiana, and is self-described as "musical cooperative". They spin American rural music into richly cinematic, experimental textures that contain a prominent streak of melancholy (and some slowcore tendencies). In my opinion, this is their best album, released in 2002. Enjoy!
